Hey folks, I can’t believe it’s been over a month since my last post. Wow! In blogging terms, 1 month or longer between posts is equivalent to shooting myself in the foot.
But before we get into that, and above all else, I wanted to send a grateful shout out to Maren, my friend from Seevetal, Germany (near Hamburg). Over Christmas Maren sent me a really really awesome Christmas package full of German delight!
Here are some pictures of the contents:
As you can see in the picture, there is an awesome German cookbook, some delicious chocolates, and some cookies (yum!). This cookbook has some insanely great recipes in it that I can’t wait to share with you.
Marzipan Chocolates… yummy! I love the flavor of almond and chocolate together.
Pfeffernusse cookies. So good. If you haven’t ever had pfeffernusse cookies, you’re missing out.
I believe these were hazelnut and cinnamon cookies. Delicious.
I believe these were gingerbread cinnamon cookies (Maren, if I’m wrong on any of these, feel free to correct me) and they were quite delicious.
More chocolates. Sinful and divine.
Maren, thank you! You’ve always been thoughtful and kind :).
Now, many of you are wondering where in tarnation blazes I’ve been. It’s a long story filled with insanity, cartoons, sleepless nights, extra work, experiments, and insanity. Oh wait, I think I said that already.
Near the beginning of January I unexpectedly wound up in a musical within a matter of hours. Since that day my life has been full of rehearsals, performances 45+ hours a week of work, a new blog (www.ChrisMower.com), and a project my wife and I are working on together (I’ll announce it once it’s complete). I also received a new calling to work with the youth in my church. Soo… I went from not busy at all to overwhelmed and unrested.
As much as I’d like to say, “I’m sorry, and I won’t do it again,” I can’t promise anything. However, my days are finally becoming less chaotic and after March 9th I’ll have some more free time. When that time comes around I’ve also got some excellent recipes I’ll be posting.
And while I’m writing, I might as well put in a shameless plug in for the musical I’m in: You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.
We’re performing only two more times (March 5th and March 8th). You can buy tickets here: www.sjtheatre.org.
I’d love to see you there.
In the mean time, now that my time will be winding down, I also hope to be doing a little bit more cooking and picture taking. I’ve invented some new recipes and haven’t had the time to document them.
Well, until next time, stay tuned!
Maren rapidly comments...
No need to correct you on anything -you got everything right and those chocolate covered stars are indeed gingerbread cookies. I´ll be looking into the stores later this year for new Christmas stuff and make sure that you get some for Christmas 2010 as well. Don´t eat all of the stuff at once though or you´ll probably be craving more for the remainder of the year!
Chris Mower luckily chats it up...
You rock! 🙂
Meagan brainily asserts...
Oh my gosh, Chris. I’m salivating. Do you have ANY idea how I feel about German baked goods and chocolates?! I WANT PFEFFERNUSSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And Lindt truffles.
